Why I Chose to Launch a Summer Music Camp in Coppell
When I started Loop Music Academy, I had one goal: to make music lessons approachable, fun, and meaningful — especially for beginners. Over the last few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from kids strumming their first chord to retirees picking up bass for the first time.
But one thing kept coming up, especially with younger students: "What can we do over the summer?" Summer presents a unique opportunity to dive deeper and capitalize on some extra free time between vacations and school programs.
That question stuck with me. I started imagining something more than just weekly lessons - something immersive, collaborative, and confidence-building. That’s how our Summer Band Camp was born.
Our Summer Camp runs August 4-8 at the Coppell Arts Center for 3rd-8th graders.
Built for Beginners. Designed for Fun.
I wanted this camp to be different from a typical music class. It’s not about worksheets or recitals — it’s about hands-on music-making, learning by doing, and having a blast in the process.
Our campers try out guitar, bass, piano, drums, vocals, and even songwriting. They rotate through instruments, form bands, and end the week performing together in a real concert. No prior experience is required — just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
Why Coppell?
Coppell is where I grew up. It’s where I first picked up a guitar. So launching this camp here — at the beautiful Coppell Arts Center — felt like the perfect full-circle moment. I wanted to give back to the community that gave me my musical roots, and help spark that same excitement in a new generation of young musicians.
What I Hope Students Take Away
More than anything, I hope students leave our camp with:
A sense of musical confidence
New friendships and bandmates
A real performance they can be proud of (On Friday, August 8, for friends/family + community)
And most importantly, a love for music that lasts long after camp ends
Spots are limited, and we’ve already started filling up! If you know a 3rd–8th grader who would love to explore music this summer, learn more and register here.
Hope to see you at camp!
